Mr. Garrett Godsey is the Director of Choral Activities at Whiteland Community High School. Garrett graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a Bachelor of Music Education/Voice degree. While at IU, Garrett was a part of 3 different large-scale productions with IU Opera including Parsifal, Lucia di Lammermoor, and West Side Story. He also performed with multiple choral ensembles including the Singing Hoosiers, Penderecki St. Luke Passion Chorus, and IU Summer Chorus. Garrett is from Avon, IN, where he developed a deep passion for show choir and concert choir. He is a huge Pacers, Colts, and IU football/basketball fan. In his free time, Garrett loves to play guitar, ukulele and piano. He has been a choral director at Whiteland Community High School since 2020.
Mrs. Elena Walters (VanderVeen) is now in her third year at Whiteland Community High School directing Iridescence, Choraliers, Treble Clef, and Expressions choirs as well as a vocal music director for the annual musical production. Elena graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor degree in Music Education certified in choral, general and instrumental music from grades K-12. While at AU she was a part of the Anderson University Chorale, Symphonic Choir, Gospel Choir, Handbell Choir, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Orchestra as a clarinetist/saxophonist. She also served as a director for the Our Town Players Community Theatre in her hometown of Franklin, Indiana where she grew up with her other triplet siblings and developed a great appreciation for theatre, choral, and instrumental performance. Before coming to Whiteland Elena directed show choirs, concert choirs, and the musical production to grades 6-12 at Fairfield Jr-Sr High School. Her hobbies include spending time with her new husband, family, pets, gardening, and bothering her father who also teaches at WCHS in the art department. She is looking forward to yet another great year at Whiteland Community High School. Go Warriors!
Roger W. Smith is a native of Metamora, IN who began studying music at age 5 and, after several decades, still finds piano playing preferable to working. He has performed as both a soloist and member of various musical and theatrical groups. Roger was educated in voice and piano at Indiana University and The University of Cincinnati. He is presently Director of Fine Arts at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN, a freelance pianist, vocal coach and arranger, an adjunct instructor with Franklin College and Collaborative Pianist/Choral Assistant at Whiteland Community High School. Roger resides in Bargersville IN with his spouse, Debi Macy-Smith. He enjoys playing with his grandchildren, reading, hiking and traveling to places where the road ends in water.
